Whether you need accident-only insurance or a policy for both accident and illness, all our coverage types include exam fees, treatments and just about everything else you’d expect when your pet is sick or hurt. The types of coverage available to you include:

  • Accidents: Cover costs related to treating injuries and emergencies. Examples include torn ligaments, bite wounds, cuts, broken bones, lodged foreign objects, toxic ingestions.
  • Illnesses: Get assistance paying for major and minor illnesses, including UTIs, digestive problems, allergies, hypothyroidism, arthritis, even cancer.
  • Hereditary & Congenital issues: Inherited conditions and birth defects aren’t always apparent until it’s an emergency. Covered conditions include heart disease, eye disorders, hip dysplasia and more.
  • Behavioral problems: Addressing issues related to anxious or compulsive behavior, such as excessive licking, fur pulling or damage to your home, can be costly. But they can be covered with pet health insurance through Ardent.

Ardent Insurance Agency works with American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) as our pet insurance carrier. A leading animal welfare nonprofit since 1886, ASPCA shares Arden’s dedication to prioritizing community over profit.

We’re also a big fan of their My Pet Insurance mobile app that lets you submit claims, locate nearby vet clinics and manage your account wherever you are. Plus, they have tons of great online resources for pet parents, including a database of articles and safety tips, breed information and more.

Generally, our pet health insurance covers exams, diagnostics and treatment for accidents, illnesses, inherited and congenital conditions, and behavioral issues for cats and dogs. Our pet insurance does not include coverage for:

  • Pre-existing Conditions. Conditions that occurred before coverage began or during a waiting period are excluded from our insurance coverage. A condition will no longer be considered pre-existing if it’s been cured and free of symptoms for 180 days—however, this does not apply to knee and ligament conditions.
  • Cosmetic or Aesthetic Procedures. We do not offer coverage for elective procedures, such as claw removal, ear cropping or tail docking.
  • Breeding Costs. We do not offer plans that cover breeding or pregnancy costs.
  • Preventive Care. Preventive care is not included in our standard plans but is available as an optional add-on to your policy. This comes with an additional cost per month. Preventive care includes annual wellness visits, vaccines and screenings.

Both annual and six-month plans are available through Ardent Insurance Agency. There are options to pay your premium monthly or annually. You will receive specific payment instructions before your policy becomes effective.
